I just spent twenty minutes trying to work up the courage to make you all watch Things, a 1989 Canadian movie that is supposed to preposterously horrible, but decided at the last minute to spare Ro from it. I don’t think we’re there yet. So instead it’s time to visit a genre we have somehow neglected-- the talking animal movie. Today instead we will be watching 2013's A Talking Cat!?!, which tries to make up for its lack of quality with extra punctuation. The only person involved with this that you might have heard of is the voice of the cat, Eric Roberts, who apparently recorded all of his lines in one take in 15 minutes. It was directed by a man whose regular job is making softcore porn films under female pseudonyms and apparently the filming location was also used for some porn films whose titles I don’t feel comfortable sharing here. It’s supposed to be really…something!?! It has been riffed by Rifftrax, it’s been covered on How Did This Get Made and according to the AV Club: “for lovers of utter, unredeemable trash, it is highly recommended.” That’s us! But don’t worry, we will suffer through this monstrosity together, and best of all, it’s streaming on Prime!?! So join us tonight at 6:30, and while you are mad at me for making you watch this, just remember my first choice, which was going to be far worse!?!
