American Ninja (1985)
Announcement
Remember Ninja III: The Domination? What a great film! Cannon Films wanted to keep making ninja movies but for some reason didn’t want to keep the star of Ninja III (maybe because she was already in Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, which was released simultaneously? Who knows?), so they cooked up a new Ninja franchise. Don’t worry! This is STILL directed by Ninja III auteur Sam Firstenberg and was supposed to star Chuck Norris. Since Chuck didn’t want his face covered they needed to find a suitable replacement and went with print model and non-martial artist Michael Dudikoff. According to his Wikipedia page which he almost certainly didn’t write himself: “Over 400 candidates went on to audition for the part. The producer and owner of Cannon, Menahem Golan, and director Sam Firstenberg thought Dudikoff was the obvious choice for the part. Golan even went on to say that he would be the next James Dean.” Tonight we watch AMERICAN NINJA! It has 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and it’s streaming on Prime for free. See ya at 6:30!
