Ballistic: Ecks Vs Sever (2002)
Announcement
What is the worst movie ever made? That's a big question. Who decides this? One generally reliable benchmark is to look to Rotten Tomatoes for some sort of critical consensus. This is an imperfect solution, since some movies we've watched might be listed with an audience review or two but no Top Critics and others might be listed at 0% but only have a couple of critical reviews to back that score up. The way Rotten Tomatoes itself decides is by how many bad reviews a movie gets-- it won't make their worst of list unless it has at least twenty reviews, and tonight's movie has lived as the most Rotten Movie of All Time since its release in 2002. BALLISTIC: ECKS VS SEVER has more than twenty bad reviews. It has an astonishing *one hundred and sixteen* reviews, and every single one hated the movie. From a Rotten Tomatoes article written in 2017 about the movie "Usually when a movie is dubbed the worst of its time, or of all time, there’s a motley crew of defenders insisting that what critics and respectable folks think make it unforgivably awful is secretly what makes it awesome. That’s not the case here. As far as I know, there is no cult for this sad little orphan, just detractors." The movie is directed by a guy who calls himself Kaos (yes, that's how he's billed, though his real name is Wych Kaosayanada) and stars the usually reliable Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu. It cost $70m to make and grossed only $14.3m...ouch. I saw this movie years and years ago and thinking it sucked but never really paid it much mind tbh-- let's see how it stacks up against our All Stars of Terrible Cinema™️ ! See ya tonight!
