Cathy'S Curse (1977)
Announcement
The 70s were a great time for some classic horror movies. You've got the Exorcist, the Omen and Carrie, amongst many others. You know the best way to make a successful horror movie? I'm sure Eddy Matalon would like to know-- he was the writer/director/producer of a little film from Canada called CATHY'S CURSE, which was released in 1977 and was a mashup of the three above movies, sans the budgets, quality and care. It was the first movie in English that Matalon made (he was French), and you know how excellent English language scripts are when written by someone who doesn't speak it as a first language. From my understanding, we'd better get #best-quotes warmed up, because this movie is absolutely full of them. A user on Letterboxd writes "Cathy’s Curse is so disorienting at times with it’s ineptitude that I always feel like I’m watching some crazy swirly-synth drenched, demonically possessed doll induced nightmare.... with bloodbaths and elegant piano music." We have a lovely remaster of the film to watch thanks to the good folks over at Severin Films. See ya at 6:30!
