Announcement

Terry Marcel and Harry Robertson had pretty good taste in movies. The loved Yojimbo and A Fistful of Dollars and had the genius idea of, what if they made a movie like those, but set it in the Dark Ages in Europe? But then they were like, what if we added magic? And Jack Palance? And then they must have taken a lot of mushrooms and reread Lord of the Rings, because apparently what came out of this idea was 1980's Hawk the Slayer, a movie that I haven’t seen but after 20 seconds of watching the trailer decided that I needed to, and why not force a bunch of friends to join me? So, join me tonight at 6:30! It’s streaming on Prime for free and looks fucking insane.

Description

Hawk the Slayer, after seeing both his father and bride die at the hands of his malevolent brother, Voltan, sets out for revenge and the chance to live up to his title. Tooling himself up with the "mind-sword" and recruiting a motley band of warriors: a giant, a dwarf, a one-armed man with a machine-crossbow and an elf with the fastest bow in the land; Hawk leads the battle against Voltan to free the land from the forces of evil and avenge his loved ones.
