Let's just lay this out there-- professional athletes (with the occasional exception of professional wrestlers) make for poor actors. For every Terry Crews you have a Michael Jordan or a Dennis Rodman or a Shaq (hmmm, maybe it's just basketball players who suck at acting? Well, anyhoo). Some athletes think that just because they are larger than life, that will make up for learning how to perform in front of a camera (spoiler: it doesn't). From the mid to late 80s Brian "The Boz" Bosworth was one of these guys. He was mostly known as a loudmouth and for getting absolutely destroyed once by Bo Jackson, and tried to parley this into an acting career after he had to retire early due to a shoulder injury. I remember his movie debut, probably because the trailer was everywhere for a minute in 1991. "BRIAN BOSWORTH IS...STONE COLD!" Turns out this movie was as much of a disaster as the rest of his acting career-- the original director was fired, they completely rewrote Bosworth's character which necessitated ditching all of the previous footage shot (they literally wasted $4m on that). Lance Henrickson apparently rewrote his own dialogue, as his character was written as only speaking in bible verses. It's budget was $21 million dollars and it finally grossed $9m. Ouch. The Boz also was nominated for a Razzie for Worst New Star (he lost to Sofia Coppola from Godfather 3). Get your popcorn and beverages of choice ready and tune in to the BMT server tonight at 6:30! See ya then!
