The Happening (2008)
Announcement
According to Wikipedia, Allan Kaprow first coined the term "happening" in the spring of 1959 at an art picnic at George Segal's farm to describe the art pieces that were going on. The first appearance in print was in Kaprow's famous "Legacy of Jackson Pollock" essay that was published in 1958 but primarily written in 1956. "Happening" also appeared in print in one issue of the Rutgers University undergraduate literary magazine, Anthologist. The form was imitated and the term was adopted by artists across the U.S., Germany, and Japan. Jack Kerouac referred to Kaprow as "The Happenings man", and an ad showing a woman floating in outer space declared, "I dreamt I was in a happening in my Maidenform brassiere". I mean, this doesn't have anything to do with tonight's movie, but it's interesting to know. Rather than experiencing a 60s happening, we'll be watching M. Night Syamalan's 2008 film THE HAPPENING, starring Marky Mark sans the Funky Bunch, the New Girl and Johnny Legs. I expect they're similar, right? It's up on the server! See ya at 6:30.
Description
When a deadly airborne virus threatens to wipe out the northeastern United States, teacher Elliot Moore and his wife Alma flee from contaminated cities into the countryside in a fight to discover the truth. Is it terrorism, the accidental release of some toxic military bio weapon -- or something even more sinister?
