The Lawnmower Man (1992)
Announcement
What do you get if you combine Stephen King, Tron and Flowers For Algernon? I mean, sort of Stephen King-- they used the name of his short story about a satyr mowing a dude’s lawn. No, really, that’s what the story is about. The movie, however, is about VR, extremely cringy acting and Pierce Brosnan slumming it so hard I think he probably pulled a muscle. Tonight we watch the CGI shitshow that is THE LAWNMOWER MAN, also starring Terry O’Quinn (who would become much more famous in the TV show Lost), Dean Norris (who would also get much more famous in Breaking Bad) and Jeff Fahey as the most poorly performed portrayal of intellectual disability this side of Sean Penn in I Am Sam. It’s available for rent on Amazon. See ya at 6:30! (TW: There are a couple of scenes with questionable issues of consent-- I don’t remember them being too problematic to screen, but I wanted to give y’all a heads up in case this might be triggering and you’d prefer to skip this one).
