The Running Man (1987)
Announcement
Soooo After Last Season sure was something, wasn't it? Since I made y'all do some heavy lifting last week, I thought I'd give you a break and we'd watch some cotton candy of a bad movie tonight. Directed by Starsky of Starsky and Hutch, based (very very loosely) on a short story by Richard Bachman aka Stephen King, starring not one but two future governors, one member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the host of Family Feud, MICK FLEETWOOD of Fleetwood Mac, Dweezil Zappa and with choreography by Paula Abdul... whew! That's a lot. Tonight we watch 1987's THE RUNNING MAN!
Description
By 2017, the global economy has collapsed and U.S. society has become a totalitarian police state, censoring all cultural activity. The government pacifies the populace by broadcasting a number of game shows in which convicted criminals fight for their lives, including the gladiator-style The Running Man, hosted by the ruthless Damon Killian, where “runners” attempt to evade “stalkers” and certain death for a chance to be pardoned and set free.
