Sometimes a movie sounds great on paper. We’ve got James Spader, Robert Downey Jr, a gritty 1980s setting, a soundtrack with the Jim Carroll band, Lene Lovich and Marianne Faithfull. But…then…sometimes things happen. A starring role for a future Housewife of Beverly Hills. The director will have been the guy who directed Children of the Corn. Let’s check in with the invaluable Roger Ebert: “Life is not a puzzle to be solved; it is a mystery to be lived. - Dialogue in “Tuff Turf” It isn’t every day that a movie review can perform a lifesaving service, but here goes: I don’t think it’s going to be safe to sell candy in the theaters that play “Tuff Turf.” By the time the above line of dialogue occurs in the movie, it sounds so sublimely ridiculous that people are going to be in danger of choking. Maybe they should train the ushers in the Heimlich maneuver.” That’s right, it’s finally time to dip a toe into Bri’s favorite movie. We’re watching Tuff Turf tonight at 6:30pm!
